In the spirit of the holiday season, I feel it is important to give back to the community in any way that you can. Whether you do something small or you dedicate a lot of your time to help others during this time, it all makes a difference. Here are some ideas on how you can give back this holiday season and make this difficult year just a little easier for someone else.
1. Donate Clothes, Toys, & your time
Something I always like to do is to donate toys to children in need or to families that cannot afford it. Donating your clothes is also another easy way to help out the community. If there are items that you don’t use, consider donating them! There is someone out there that will appreciate it!
2. Write a letter
Writing a letter can be such a small gesture that will make anyone’s day. You can choose to write a letter to essential workers, soldiers, children in hospitals, the elderly, the list goes on and on. Don’t underestimate the impact of a simple letter!
3. Show your support on social media
This is something that is really easy and affordable to do. Whether you are encouraging others to help, promoting an organization, or sharing a post for a good cause, showing your support on social media is a great way to get yourself, and your family and friends involved.
4. Pay for someone’s meal
This may seem very simple but we underestimate how much this would be to someone. Times are tough right now so if you can afford to pay for someone else’s meal, think of how that could make someone’s day.
5. Support brands that are giving back
If you are shopping this holiday season, shop from brands and companies that are also giving back. This way, your purchase is going towards a good cause and you get an item and a donation in one!
6. Donate to a charity in a friend’s name
This is a great idea to gift someone this holiday season. If there is a organization that your friend of family member wants to help, consider donating in their name this holiday.
7. Volunteer at a Food Bank
Volunteering at a food bank, shelter, or even taking time out of your day to personal hand out items or meals is a beautiful way to give back. Gather a group of your friends and family are volunteer to help out others in need.
8. Shop small businesses
A simple thing to help out the community this year is to shop from small businesses. This year has been so hard for many businesses so support small or local businesses will make the world of a difference.
